Chapter One

Rose

2007 ISR/Oldenburg NA mare named Rose (barn name), purchased in 2009 as a 2.5 year old. She was adorable, sweet, halter broke, and easy to catch. A blank slate and a diamond in the rough, she was a fun project and great learning experience. She was the first "baby" that I've started. Due to having my own baby in 2012 and struggling to find the time needed to keep Rose in training, I made the tough decision to sell her. In August of 2013 I sold her and she moved to her new home in Colorado.

Rose's history:
July 2007
Rose was foaled May 25, 2007 at Oak Leaf Farm Sport Horses in Yamhill, Oregon. She is black bay and stands 16.2hh. Her sire is Gatsby and her dam is Piper. She has a certificate of birth with the ISR and is an approved mare with ISR/Oldenburg NA with a premium score of 105. Click here to view Rose's pedigree

During the summer of 2007, Piper and Rose were purchased by TDS Sporthorses and moved to their farm in Gaston, Oregon. Rose spent the following two years at TDS. On September 30th, 2009 I decided to purchase her and transported her from TDS to a quiet little barn in rural Oregon City, where she enjoyed the rest of her two year old year out on pasture with a buddy during the day and cozied up in a nice dry stall at night. We spent that winter working on ground manners and preparing her to get started under saddle in the spring.

When Rose turned three, May 1st, 2010 she moved to Green Meadow Farm and was started by Tracie Bjugan, who put 45 days on her. She continued her training with me from that point on with regular lessons. The following spring in 2011 she successfully competed in three dressage shows, taking home second  place and reserve champion ribbons in Intro Level and Mare Performance classes. In 2011 we moved to Bozeman Montana. Rose's dressage training continued and she was started over fences. She was successfully completing 2' line work and started schooling flying changes. Unfortunately, the EHV1 outbreak in the area cancelled the show season in 2011. Rose had much of her four/five year old year off serious training due to my pregnancy/new baby. In January 2013 her training started back up in full force and we are looking forward to showing training level/first level this summer and continuing to dabble with jumping. Despite my best efforts, keeping a show horse in condition while being a full time stay at home mom and working part time simply was not working out, and I decided it would be best for everyone if I sold her. In August of 2013 she was sold to a wonderful eventing home in Colorado. I look forward to seeing where she goes in the eventing world with her new owner!

Gatsby
 About Gatsby:
"Gatsby is a 17.1h, 1999, homozygous black Oldenburg Stallion by the elite Hanoverian stallion, Gonzo I. Gatsby stamps his foals with great bone, size, conformation, athleticism, refinement, and consistently amazing temperaments, making him an excellent choice for amateurs or professionals in any sport-horse discipline. Gatsby not only turns heads with his beauty and presence, but he steals hearts wherever he goes, whether in training, grooming, or just working around him in the barn.  He is a perfect gentleman when he is around people and horses alike.  Most riders want a horse that is not only talented, but fun and safe too.  The story remains consistent - people love their Gatsby babies and are hailing them as the most beautiful, talented, trainable, and sweet horses they've ever had." - Fox Dale Farm
